The temporary schedule for the next few weeks has been emailed and is posted here under calendar. If your class has been split, MAKE SURE YOU ONLY COME TO THE STUDIO ON THE DAYS THAT YOU ARE SCHEDULED. Zoom links have been (or will be) posted for all classes that needed to be split as well as some others. If you signed up for ZOOM ONLY classes, please do not attend class at the studio. In the event that a student arrives at the studio that is not scheduled to be there, they can and will be asked to leave if their presence causes the studio to violate the new Covid health order. It is the parents/students responsibility to check the schedule and know if they are to be in class or not.
Hello Everyone,
The Board along with teachers have come up with a plan that we would like to put forward going into the next three weeks.
As stated before, the new guidelines read that all dancers must now be 3 meters apart, wear a mask at all times, and there will be a maximum of eight students per class.
So, starting this coming week (Monday, November 30), classes that have eight or less dancers will stay the same. Classes that have eight or less dancers are:
- Grade 2 Jazz Exam Class
- Junior Hip Hop
- Primary Jazz Exam
- Senior Acro
- Pointe
- Beginner Jazz
- Junior Tap
- Junior Jazz
- Junior Ballet Group and Technique Class
- Primary Tap Exam
- Tiny Acro
- Beginner Acro
- Musical Theatre
- Grade 1 & 2 Tap Exam
- Lyrical
So again, nothing will change in regards to times for these classes, they will run as usual with new guidelines.
For the classes with more than eight students, we may be splitting the classes and alternating students for the next three weeks. Because of this it will be VERY important to let myself (Erin), or the teacher know if your child will be missing if they are sick or for any other reason. The reason it is so important, is because we have a few classes with 9 or 10 kids, so if 1 or 2 happen to be missing, that will mean EVERYONE will be able to attend for those classes and we will not have to split for that particular class. So, if there are any classes you know in advance that your child cannot attend please let me know ASAP.
Also important... teachers will be offering ZOOM classes as well during their regular classes. So, if you have opted out due to the new restrictions, we offer you the option to join via Zoom.
The classes that may need to be split that currently have more than eight students are:
- Senior Hip Hop
- Beginner Ballet
- Intermediate Ballet Technique and Group
- Senior Ballet Technique and Group
- Creative Ballet
- Strength and Stretch
- Contemporary
- Intermediate Jazz
- Senior Jazz
Thanks everyone!
Good Evening Parents!
With the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Saskatchewan, and the new guidelines that are always changing, Biggar School of Dance has decided to take the next step and ask that anyone who enters the building please wear a mask. Dancers will be asked to wear their mask within the building until they get to their "square" within the dance studio. If dancers feel more comfortable keeping their masks on while in class they are more than welcome to do so.
Thank-you!
Firstly, the board would like to ask and thank all parents and students for your patience while we struggle through these uncertain and changing times. Rest assured, the Biggar School of Dance board holds your child's health and safety as a highest priority. We remind all parents/students to use the Covid 19 screening tool found in the the registration package, as well found under downloads, prior to each days classes. Most importantly, please adhere to the safety plan we have put in place, and stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19.
1. Are you sick with a cold/flu or are you displaying any signs of COVID-19?
2. Do you have new or worsening FEVER, COUGH, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, DIFFICULTY BREATHING, SORE THROAT or RUNNY NOSE that is not associated with allergies, chronic illness or any other pre existing condition?
3. Have you returned from outside the country in the last 14 days?
4. In the past 14 days did you have known close contact with someone who has a probable or confirmed case of COVID-19?
5. In the past 14 days have you been advised by Public Health or other health agency to self isolate?
If you or your child answered yes to any of the above screening questions, please do not enter the Biggar School of Dance studio and let your teacher and/or the board know you will be absent from class.
If a member of your house tests positive for COVID-19 or you believe you may have it and are waiting for test results, please let the School of Dance board immediately.
As with every dance class, risk of injury and/or illness is present. It is up to each individual dancer/family to decide their comfort level and acknowledge the risks involved in attending classes. The board and instructors will be taking all steps that are appropriately possible to limit these risks, and policies and safety plans may change through out the season.
Prevention starts with education. Please teach your children how to properly use hand sanitizer and when it is appropriate to do so. For younger children, using hand sanitizer in the car before entering and after leaving the studio is recommended.
We are currently looking into the possibility of ZOOM classes, not to replace regular classes, but so those who are missing class and are well enough to dance can stay up to date and practice at home.
In addition to cleaning between classes, the studio will be deep cleaned daily (ie: bathroom, kitchen, floors
Discussions are occurring in regards to congestion in the common areas and the best ways to minimize this. This affects mainly the entrance/boot room and kitchen.
At this time, we can not say whether we will be attending competitions in the spring. This depends on a number of factors, including but not limited to: government guidelines, available competitions and our own clubs comfort level in attending. Parents will be kept informed and updated throughout the season as new information arises.
The Biggar School of Dance is a competitive dance school that has grown over the years to now offer Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Creative, Acro, Musical Theater and recreational classes each year depending on interest at registration. Membership is open to all persons aged 3-18 in the Biggar Saskatchewan and surrounding area.
We are pleased to now also offer a recreational class for adults as well!

All families that are part of the Biggar School of Dance are required to participate in fundraising activities. We currently hold a Mom's Pantry fundraiser in which each single child dance family is required to raise a profit of $50 worth of sales. Each multiple child family is required to raise $100 in profits from sales. The procedes from this fundraiser help to cover the costs of your child(rens)s costumes and competition fees. Those families choosing NOT to participate in the fundraiser have the option of paying the equivalent directly to the dance school.
Attendance is mandatory!! Missed classes not only sets the individual back, but the entire group as well. After three missed classes the parents will be talked to, and after five missed classes the student may be asked to permanently leave the class. Extenuating circumstances and emergent situations will be taken into consideration when final decisions are made.
All dancers and parents are expected to follow the Biggar School of Dance Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is designed to maintain respect and professionalism within the studio.
Biggar School of Dance has put a studio safety plan in place for the 2020-2021 dance season, as well as a screening tool for all dancers prior to entering the studio. The screening tool is part of the registration package.
